Being alone is not the same as loneliness.  I would rather be alone than sell my identity, diminish my light or compromise myself ever again. But there is a cost to being alone. Human Touch is powerful, healing and soothing. I haven't been with anyone in a very long time.  There have been days where I wake up and wonder what is the point. If I were too disappear, the universe would go on, the neighbors would continue about their daily lives, the sun, would rise and fall and nobody would give a @#% except maybe my kids. And that is as good as it gets. I realized that death is like going to surgery. They turn out the lights and you don't know the lights are out. You are at peace.   Today is the 4th of July, 2026 in a country that is under siege by those who would disguise their bad intent with things like "greatness" or "return to normalcy."  In Texas they have decided to allow teaching religion in schools. Think about that. Our countries prinicple of "Separation of church and state", that religion is not taxed for the same reason, as the two being separate. Is now gone.  The place that once was a melting pot of all ideas, cultures, religions, languages is now being pushed to not only be christian only, but TAUGHT in public tax payer...paid for by working peoples taxes. We have seen it over and over again, anyone that studies history, any history will see it. Governments, leadership, Organizations, usually RELIGIOUS organizations trying to steer and control people. Defining what can and can't be done.  AND!!! There's a pattern that shows up again and again when governments and religious institutions decide a group of people has gotten too free, too visible, or too inconvenient to the order they want to maintain. It doesn't look the same every time on the surface — sometimes it's a law, sometimes it's a sermon, sometimes it's a school board meeting — but underneath, it's the same five moves, in the same order, every time: Name a threat.  Ageism is a thing.....Dismissive, Sinister, Covert... and it is everywhere. This blog is about what it means to be Older and Transgender and the unique challenges that those people face. First a comment I have seen on Transgender forums by other Younger Transgender people What is the point? The Current GOP Administration,  MAGA Base, and Right Wing Christian Nationalist Organizations Tolerate (and look the other way) murder, violence, hate speech AND are actively driving oppression, division, and the removal of rights and liberties from US Citizens and to be real this is a global problem and applies to other countries too.  Part of every persons journey, transgender or cis is one of identity. Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? Is there a god or gods?  For Transgender people they have an added complexity and confusion that makes seeing the answers more difficult.  Imagine spending your life hating the person in the mirror looking back. Not understanding why you feel better when you put on certain clothing. Why you abuse and mutilate yourself and it makes you feel better. Why you derail your relationships recklessly.  I was out for a walk, 6 am, June, cool but great weather, clear skies and the sun rising bringing warmth and the day.  The trees to my left are all pines, a couple hundred feet high and above one of them was a medium sized black bird flying in circles around the top, squawking and making a racket, diving close but never landing.  The Bird was panic'd calling for help possibly Curious... I kept going on my walk which eventually would pass by this particular tree.  Getting closer I could see there was something up on the tree throwing down what likely was part of this birds nest. Comments like "They are a Man in a dress" "They have a prostate so they are a man" All of them ignorant of the bigger picture, generally these trolls relying on what they heard from fox news, or joe rogan, or the Right Wing Nationalist (Nazi Fascist) propaganda pod cast/radio show (pick one).  I recently started getting back into social media because I am resting at home healing from surgery and I don't have a whole lot I can do but lay in bed.  So....I started doing social media and what a dumpster fire some of it is. Especially Facebook. As I get into Facebook, groups, channels, streams, reels, posts, I am blown away at the LACK of intelligent conversation, the LACK of civility between people the lack of moderation and mediation...There is none. I was on a Facebook post/stream via Fox News, Saturday night regarding what is going on with ICE and protesters at a detention center in N.J. and the Rage and the hate in that channel was staggering towards a woman governor.    About 7 years ago I was with my partner and my son... and we were out. Summer, exploring new trails in the deep woods and just being a family...living...getting out of the house. Finding fresh air and enjoying the weather and the quiet and I suppose each other. Being good people. Then it happened. A really large aggressive bug... some kind of hornet or wasp...started buzzing and attacking my son, my son was little,  so I swatted at it with my hands to get it off my kid and then it started attacking me. I backed away and it would not leave me alone. I was locked on and targeted. This one sucks the most.  I'm gonna tell a true story.  I ran into this thinking mindset from someone I was once very close to.  The; "I'm not convinced" statement.  To start I reached out to someone I was trying to re-build/reconnect a relationship with, to rekindle something good. I reached out (not the first time) and told them my truth, gave them my name, my pronouns, reminded them I am still that awesome person, just the body the gender has changed  and backed it up that many people they know have accepted and embraced me.
